The T51R Mod increases the audible turbo characteristics of the OEM turbocharger, producing the aggressive sound commonly associated with large top-mount turbo setups or turbo diesel vehicles.

This modification is designed to enhance sound while maintaining OEM functionality.

  • No retune required
  • No supporting modifications required

For maximum sound, we recommend installing an aftermarket turbo inlet. OEM inlet pipes are designed to reduce turbo noise and may slightly dampen the effect of this modification.

If purchasing our provided housing option, you may receive OEM or aftermarket housings depending on current inventory availability.

Option 1 — (Send-In Service)

Send us your turbocharger housing and we will machine it in-house and install the T51R modification. Once completed, your housing will be shipped back to you.

Option 2 — (Modified Housing Provided)

Purchase a pre-modified housing directly from us. We will ship a finished housing that you can install at your convenience.

Compatibility:

  • Early Model: 2008–2018 ✔ Supported
  • Late Model: 2019–Present ❌ Currently not supported

Late-model turbochargers require welding a new 2.5” inlet pipe in place of the factory spring-clip inlet design. Custom intake piping would also be required, so this modification is not offered for those models at this time.

Recommended Supporting Mod

We highly recommend an aftermarket turbo inlet kit. Factory BMW inlet pipes are designed to muffle turbo noise, which can partially reduce the sound effect of the T51R modification.
